Kern County Aging and Adult Services (KCAASD) has entered into an agreement with Revolution Foods, PBC (Revolution), a leading provider of healthy meals for schools and community organizations, to provide and deliver meals to clients of KCAASD’s home delivered senior nutrition program. The program currently delivers a noon time meal Monday-Friday, to more than 1,800 homebound older adults in Kern County each year. Under this agreement Revolution will make a weekly delivery to eligible clients of KCAASD that will include five (5) frozen meals, fresh milk, and produce. Each meal will meet one-third of the recommended daily requirements for older- adults. The meals will be made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients and will be delivered promptly and with care.

The addition of Revolution as a meal provider is a major step forward in helping KCAASD achieve its Mission to “provide services that protect, preserve the dignity, and support the independence and safety of all older adults and disabled individuals in our community”. KCAASD’s nutrition program currently does not provide medically tailored meals; however, Revolution will be able to provide low-sodium, low-fat, and diabetic-friendly options and KCAASD hopes to make additional options available soon. There are also areas of the County that KCAASD cannot currently serve, and some areas of the program had waiting lists due to limited staffing and resources. The addition of Revolution will enable the program to eliminate waiting lists and reach older adults in more outlying areas of the County.

Revolution services began the week of May 29th, 2023, by providing meal deliveries to all the clients who had previously been on a waiting list. KCAASD plans to transition its existing home delivered meal clients to Revolution in the future, and will evaluate the transition along the way.
