Our People
We sat down with our Director of Operations in Washington D.C, Tamica Biggs, to learn about her journey from growing up in the inner city of Chicago to leading the operations that serve inner-city communities with healthy meals. Read on to learn about her story.
What do you do at Revolution Foods?
I am the Director of Operations in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. As the Director of Operations, I support the day-to-day operations within the culinary center providing guidance and support to the production, distribution, purchasing, quality assurance, and customer service departments. As a collective, we ensure school and community feeding partners receive nutritional, delicious meals every day.
Why did you choose to work at Revolution Foods?
After two years of being a culinary instructor, I wanted to transition into a position where I could make a difference in the community. I grew up in the inner city of Chicago where most of our meals were processed or cooked with a lot of fats and sugars. I know the importance of a meal, more importantly, a healthy meal, and how it can affect a child’s daily quality of life. After doing some research, I discovered Revolution Foods which has a mission of healthy meals for all. This seemed like the perfect fit.
Joining Revolution Foods has been an exciting journey because one of my goals is to help turn the stigma of ‘only processed food tastes good’ around. We can enjoy food without all the bad ingredients. The Revolution Foods platform is solely based on this logic and has given me an opportunity to continue my passion for food and nutrition as well as pursue my passion for health equality.
What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
Personal accountability is important. Before you act, listen. Before you react, think. Digest information to make the best possible decisions.
What is your motto or personal mantra?
Treat others as you would like to be treated. Respect goes a long way.
What is your favorite Revolution Foods meal and why?
My favorite is the Nacho Pretzel. I love cheese and jalapenos, so it’s a perfectly delicious combination for me!
